Starting a backyard herb garden is easier than you think. Not only will your dishes flourish with bold new flavor, but you’ll end up saving money as well. Why buy the dried versions of your common herbs from the store, when you can walk to the backyard and get them freshly picked.
I usually start my gardens from seed, but this year I was a bit busy and was running behind on my Spring planting. I noticed that the local nursery was running a sale on herbs, so I trucked on down and picked up both seed and some established plants. For thirty bucks, I got a whole garden’s worth of herbs including sage, thyme, oregano, rosemary, parsley, and chives! A full summer’s worth of fresh herbs is well worth the price.
